This week I asked an industry leader if he thought leaders had checked out or given up due to the overwhelming sociopolitical demands. This was in response to brand leaders more willing to invest in bots than their front-line teams.
I’ve been an early adopter of technology most of my life. Technology can be a great tool. However, at this stage of development many people are using technology to substitute their cognitive and emotional functions. Instead of thinking for themselves, they’re using tech to influence their decision making. Instead of leaning into relationships, they’re using technology to remain on the surface.
The short-term and long-terms costs are exponential. We already see the toll in well-being, client experience, team morale + performance, and innovation.
As much as this sounds discouraging, it also presents an opportunity for those with courage. Those who are willing to recognize the potential and value in those around them and plant seeds to encourage their development.
People want to follow someone who can give them hope, be consistent, and will serve them.
- Hope – what are you building to benefit others?
- Consistency – how are you strengthening trust?
- Serve – how are you adding value to your team, peers, and clients?
Are you willing to embrace the challenge and light the way in your community and industry?
