You undermine your position if you constantly say “because [insert boss name] said”.
You agree with leadership and take ownership of the command/direction from above “I want” “We’re going to” or don’t.
If you disagree and pass the buck, your team will sense the fracture and use it to their advantage.

Executives/Owners
You undermine your managers when the front line comes to you and gives a different directive.
If you don’t support your managers, you create extra work for yourself and team discord.
Worse case, it creates resentment which leads to sabotage.
Leadership has to be united across the board.
